- Lucknow Metro Line 1, also known as North–South Corridor, is a rapid transit line of Lucknow Metro.
- This line connects Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in the south to Munshi Pulia in the north, covering a distance of approximately 22.87 kilometres.
- Line 1 has a total of 21 stations, including Transport Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Alambagh, Hazratganj and Charbagh.
- Lucknow Metro Line 1 was inaugurated on September 5, 2017 by the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
- The line initially operated with Alstom Metropolis trains, which are air-conditioned and designed for rapid transit systems.
- Lucknow Metro train has four coaches and its maximum speed is 90 km/hr.
- During peak hours, the metro service operates at a remarkably low speed, with trains available every 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
Lucknow Metro Red Line Extension in Phase I
The Uttar Pradesh government is working on a plan to extend the Red Line of the Lucknow Metro. On one side, the line will extend from CCS Airport to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), and on the other side, it will run from Munshipulia to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. After completion, the corridor will cover a total distance of 23 km, connecting Amausi Airport to Munshipulia. The extension will include 22 stations, of which 19 will be elevated and 3 underground.

2026-02-17 - Lucknow Metro on Monday launched a QR-code based ticketing system, which will enable commuters to book tickets directly from their mobile phones and travel conveniently on the metro network. Under the new system, commuters can purchase QR tickets through the official mobile app of Lucknow Metro, which is available on both Android and iOS platforms. The digital QR ticket generated through the app can be scanned at the yellow striped Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates.

2026-02-01 - The second phase of the Lucknow Metro has received a major boost with the allocation of Rs 1,450 crore for the project in the Union Budget 2026-27, paving the way for construction work to begin in the coming months. Officials expect work on the Charbagh-Basant Kunj corridor to begin within three months, and tenders have already been finalized. The Phase II (Phase-1B) corridor will cover a distance of 11.16 kilometers from Charbagh to Basant Kunj. The corridor will have 12 stations, including seven underground and five elevated stations.

2026-01-05 - उत्तर प्रदेश मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन (UPMRCL) ने लखनऊ मेट्रो के फेज़ 1B के लिए सिविल कॉन्ट्रैक्ट के लिए टेंडर मंगाए हैं। कॉन्ट्रैक्ट में ठाकुरगंज मेट्रो स्टेशन से वसंत कुंज मेट्रो स्टेशन (स्टेशन सहित लगभग 4.6 km लंबाई) तक मेन लाइन एलिवेटेड वायडक्ट का डिज़ाइन और कंस्ट्रक्शन शामिल है, जिसमें वायडक्ट और डिपो के एंट्री/एग्जिट पॉइंट को जोड़ने वाले रैंप (लगभग 740.00 m) का कंस्ट्रक्शन, और ठाकुरगंज, बालागंज, सरफराजगंज, मूसाबाग और वसंत कुंज नाम के पांच एलिवेटेड मेट्रो स्टेशन बनाना शामिल है। इसमें सिविल काम, उससे जुड़े सहायक स्ट्रक्चर, PEB स्ट्रक्चर, आर्किटेक्चरल काम, पानी की सप्लाई, सफाई, ड्रेनेज, बाहरी डेवलपमेंट, फायर फाइटिंग, और रिपेयर और मेंटेनेंस का काम शामिल है। यह काम लखनऊ, उत्तर प्रदेश, भारत में लखनऊ मेट्रो के फेज़ 1B के तहत किया जाएगा।

2025-12-30 - लखनऊ मुंशी पुलिया से एयरपोर्ट जाने वाली एक मेट्रो सेवा के ब्रेक अचानक जाम हो गए। इस कारण मेट्रो में सवार यात्रियों में हड़कंप मच गया। सूचना मिलते ही मेट्रो की तकनीकी टीम मौके पर पहुंची और करीब 15 मिनट की मशक्कत के बाद जाम ब्रेक को मैन्यूअल तरीके से रिलीज किया। मेट्रो अधिकारियों के मुताबिक तकनीकी समस्या के कारण ब्रेक जाम हुए थे। इस कारण 15 मिनट यह मेट्रो सेवा प्रभावित हुई। इस बीच दूसरी मेट्रो सेवाओं को दूसरे प्लेटफार्म पर चलाया गया।

2025-12-03 - The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has announced an ambitious plan to develop a massive 1,575-kilometer metro network across Uttar Pradesh by 2047. UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar unveiled the comprehensive blueprint during the "Developed Uttar Pradesh for Developed India @ 2047" seminar. The initial phase will focus on expanding the metro system in the state's three established metro cities, with 225 kilometers planned for Lucknow, 200 kilometers for Kanpur, and 100 kilometers for Agra. Additionally, the plan proposes a 150-kilometer network each in Noida-Greater Noida, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. 50 kilometers of metro network are planned in key districts such as Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Meerut. Approximately 790 kilometers of this metro infrastructure is targeted to be completed by 2035. Emphasizing the project's financial viability, Kumar stated that the state government's annual contribution for the initial 525 kilometers of expansion will be ₹1,040 crore.
